Creetown captain David Hughes has been doing his bit in the community by helping out with the kids at the local Goalkeeping Academy in Newton Stewart. David has been up at Blairmount the last couple of weeks helping out GK coach Stevie Dorans. Stevie told us
“We have been a bit short on coaches since Euan (Drysdale) started training with his club on a Monday & our other coach Paul (McDivit) has suffered a shoulder injury & had to have an operation. It’s not easy getting People to volunteer but we have been fortunate enough to have David & young Craig Mcculloch from Galloway Thistle offer to help us out with the kids. Craig has been helping us for a while now and David has came up the last few weeks to help us which is greatly appreciated by us all. It’s great to have the local clubs involved in helping at the academy.”
The Wigtownshire Goalkeeping Academy is now in its 2nd year and offers GK specific training to kids from 6 years old at Blairmount park Newton Stewart every Monday from 7pm.
